I liked the burning photocopies idea very much .This will surely work.
Is it legal? There could be a law written in the 1800s that bans something like this. Please confirm. Things like burning stuff have a tendency to go out of hand and create larger problems. IMHO, more peaceful means would be better.

I plan to apply for SIN but is it required to do medical insurance, PO box and bank account right now?
I am returning back on monday and as of now don't know if i will go to canada or stay in US.

Getting the SIN number is important like SSN number in US. You will need it no matter if you will or will not return to Canada. Get a medium size PO box for atleast one year that will cost you around $80-$100 but its worth it. Opening the account is also important. I did not want to respond you but here's what can be achieved by lifting the country caps even for 2 years. If you lift the country cap, oldest PDs get the green Cards irrespective of their country, considering it's Indians & Chinese who are stuck the most, believe it or not, India will get all of 140K Visas, you can easily expect India and china to come at par with ROW, I know with your intelligence level, it is hard for you to understand, but if you are in a line, you are always going to get benefited if more people before you get eliminated fom the queue...

GC Visa's are per country per year, where as H1's are not per country based, we indians used most H1's and stood in queue for GC's of course there is path so we stood, in fact it is one attraction they used to bring over here, to start with, per country GC visa limit is a poor thought.
GC quota should be better tied to H1 quota or raise the limit and god knows when did they put the numbers per country GC, before H1b program or after H1b program.
H1b program allowed hundred's of thousands to come in, in fact which they encouraged i can dare to say and GC visa count is not according to that and they let all these families to stay in limbo or wait forever is not a good sign.
Irony is majority of these folks are purposed to solve or improve all kinds of problems ranging from improving enterprise's response time from months to minutes or minutes to secs and other kinds improvements, who's families and them selves stuck in a decade long "legal immigration" battle of their life.

I'd suggest u guys take ur card magnetization talk onto another thread instead of making other current and still waiting ppl feel bad about the fact that they still dont have cards but here we have others talking about their plastic cards.
it is not to prevent 'de-magnetization' but to prevent rfid communication. All new passport and other govt id 'cards' ship with rfid chip in them which contains encrypted biometrics info. Since rfid info can be read even 10 meters away with right equipment, it is better to put it in a metallic sleeve (creating a Faraday cage) to prevent anyone from sniffing then biometrics info.

I respectfully disagree. It has nothing to do with marketing, fraud desi companies put up free ads on sulekha, its the mindset of a large number of our audience we are missing and need to account for. maybe it has to do with jugaad.
Of course many of these expectations cannot be satisfied in a honest non profit.
A dinner for a family costs $50 easily.
A movie for a family costs $50.
The mindset is incepted deep inside and it is extremely difficult to change.
Sometimes, I see people wanting to do something, but their spouses don't allow them to.
When I told people that I received GC - some desis who r still waiting got pissed. I heard all sorts of things, some say "You cheated", some say "Never knew you were Eb2", some say, "Are you sure?, have you got the cards yet?, Did you finish biometrics?" Some eb3 folks said "We will get ours too, some issue with finger prints , my husband's boss is very close to the congressman and we have influence in INS", some say "Your lawyer did some magic" etc.....
People carry such mindsets, it is difficult to bring about awareness and change.

This is my first post here. Even though I've been a member for sometime, I wasn't even aware of these forums. When the July VB fiasco happened, I stumbled upon these forums and I was glued throughout the entire saga. U know what, IV was the only one who gave me any kind of HOPE. I am so thankful for what the IV core has done for us.
Its a shame that we all sit quietly and let someone else pay for our problems. After all, most of us have decent paying jobs here. So I too will pledge $ 100 and I am also going to contribute twds IV's cause.........
I hope more ppl will come forward and do the same.

I hate to say this since I'm charged to the India queue as well. However this will not get solved soon. I saw on CNBC this afternoon that there were something like 53K H1b visas for Indians last year, next was china with like 8 or 9K, then others(I had no idea it was that lop-sided). When H1b visas are going so disproportionately to one country, the only solution to solve the EB green card logjam is to either put country caps on H1b visa or lift it on EB green cards. This is not opinion, it is quite simply a fact. Absent that, we can consider the EB green card route closed for anyone from India.
There is little and declining sympathy for the pro H1b forces. I suspect we will see highly restrictive legislation pretty soon, and based on the current sentiment wouldn't bet against it passing either.

To be more accurate, it is not porting I-140, it is retaining your old priority date, and using it with your new I-140 petition.
When you move, your new company will have to start the GC process from the begining - Labor, I-140. It is just that when they file your new I-140, you will have to provide a copy of your old one and request to keep the old priority date.
I think there are some requirements to get this right - one of them being your job classification should be the same. There is a thread on this subject somewhere on this forum, you can dig it out and ask questions there.

I am a lurker in this site. This is my first post. I have seen many posts by United Nations. He has helped and still trying to help many users at IV. His posts has insight and valuable information. Doubting his intentions just because he is in this society for 35 years is not appropriate.
I agree, UN has given good, free advice and information worth thousands of dollars in here without any malice, and he's always ready to give any info, i think he deserves more respect that someone childishly questioning him.

It will tell you how powerful lawsuits are in this country if you think you have been fooled over and over on false promises. This is especially true in the case of People whose priority date was current for a long time but still they were made to wait because of unknown reasons by USCIS while the folks who had priority dates as recent as 2006 walked with Green Cards. People especially who fall under this category are sure to succeed only by filing lawsuits. I dont see any other way out here.
